Abbesses
Edition
was created in 1990 by Fannie
Vernaz,
a music researcher, engraver and publisher.
Specializing in research,
transcription, score editing,
programme advice, engraving and teaching,
it's
aim is to promote the music of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Abbesses Editions caters for a broad range of people,
including professional and amateur musicians,
Baroque
ensembles, editing houses, and specialist Baroque institutions.
The scores
produced are the result of meticulous work combining
high quality engraving, careful fabrication and musicological research
closely linked to practical experience.
The catalogue is the fruit of a special collaboration
between
musicologists, musicians and professional baroque music ensembles.
Our publications are divided into two collections :
Resurgences
and Les Minimales.
Resurgences
is a scientific collection
centered around the sacred vocal repertoire.
Each volume includes several works by a single composer,
a bilingual
introduction examining the sources, an historical study,
French and English translations
of the latin texts,
and iconographical documents.
Each work is also available individually in volumes
which include the music, text and translations
alone.
Purchases of ten or more copies
of the separate volumes are available
at substatially reduced cost.
Les
Minimales
covers
both instrumental music
and the sacred and secular vocal repertoire
and is aimed particularly at performance.
Each volume includes a single work without introduction,
transcribed
with the same editorial rigour as the " Resurgences " collection.
Prices remain very competitive.
A third collection
will be launched
in 2003 resulting from a partnership
with the
Rouen University
musicology department
and
"Région-Musique"
in
Haute-Normandie.
The first volume, scheduled for spring 2003, will be devoted
to the publication of Guillaume Costeley's complete works.
This will be followed by the work of other eminent musicologists.
